A 40 year old fitness trainer, became the first Italian woman to marry….herself

Winchester, VA – In this Celestial Musings, the BBC reported that Laura Mesi, a 40 year old fitness trainer, became the first Italian woman to marry….herself. I suppose I am a little late to this party, as many stories of “sologamy” are showing up from last May, but let’s talk about it anyways. Mrs..Ms…Oh I don’t know…Laura Mesi said, “I told to friends and family that if I had not found my soul-mate by my 40^th birthday I would marry myself.” She said that she came up with the idea after a 12 year relationship ended. Now I’m asking myself… It took 12 years to figure out that this relationship wasn’t “the one?” It took my husband and I about two weeks to realize that we had found “the one.” Was she so dismayed after a man’s refusal to say yes to her after 12 long years that she committed to herself instead to avoid further rejection? If so, that is…so sad, and misguided.
