• The footage was released by Fox News host Tucker Carlson as part of the 40,000 hours of footage given to him by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The surveillance footage shows two officers escorting Jacob Chansley, 33, to the Senate floor, where he would pose for several famous images. The footage raises questions as to the possible complicity of some officers in the riot. 
• “Virtually every moment of his time inside the Capitol was caught on tape,” Carlson said on Monday. “The tapes show the Capitol Police never stopped Jacob Chansley. They helped him. They acted as his tour guides.”
• Chansley, accompanied by the officers, can be seen passing by numerous other officers who pay him little attention. A statement from Capitol Police claimed that the officers were attempting to “de-escalate” the situation due to being outnumbered, but the footage shows the group encountering larger groups of officers who do nothing.
