Winchester, VA – The poll results of the Alabama Senate race have been counted and what has traditionally been a staunch conservative state is, for the first time in 2 decades, sending a Democrat, Doug Jones, to the Senate, giving the Republicans a mere 51-49 majority. A confident Roy Moore had arrived on horseback at his polling station to cast his vote, but all the confidence in the world could not overcome the effects of nine sexual impropriety allegations that dogged his campaign for the last month, seven of them from women who claim they were teenagers at the time, while Moore was in his 30’s. The Associated Press reports that the 63 year old Senator-elect is a Fairfield native who practiced law in private practice, and is best known for having prosecuted two Ku Klux Klansmen for the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church which killed four black girls. It was a hair-raising night ending a  race which began with an upset in the candidacy of Roy Moore, and ended with an upset with the victory of Doug Jones.
