CATALONIANS RALLIED IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED SECESSION YESTERDAY

Winchester, VA – Reuters reports that tens of thousands of Spaniards marched through Barcelona yesterday in protest of the proposed Catalonian secession. The protest shines a spotlight on the levels of division that exist on the issue. Although 92% of the independence referendum’s votes were in favor of secession, only 42% of Catalonians actually voted on the issue. The protestors were waving Spanish and Catalonian flags and carrying banners which said, “Catalonia is Spain” and Together we are stronger. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy revealed in an interview on Saturday the possibility that the Catalonian government could ultimately be removed and replaced in a fresh local election, should they move forward and proclaim Catalonian independence.
