College Humor’s Woke Comedy Continues To Prove “Get Woke, Go Broke”

Earlier today it was announced that College Humor, launched in 1999 and was at one point the premier humor website before the age of viral videos, was laying off 100 employees. From Vulture:

Unfortunately, layoffs and even complete shutdowns have been a trend for internet comedy outlets in recent years. Several rounds of layoffs took place at Funny or Die between 2016 and 2018, including the closing of the company’s San Mateo engineering office and its New York office as well as layoffs of its entire editorial team in early 2018, which preceded its partnership with Vox Media’s platform later that year. NBCUniversal’s streaming comedy service Seeso suffered an even steeper decline, shutting down in 2017 after less than two years, and then Turner’s comedy site Super Deluxe shut down in 2018. This is all to say that it’s tougher than ever to survive as an online comedy outlet these days, especially for original video. But CollegeHumor has managed to stick around since 1999, which is an accomplishment on its own.

Of course, the article neglects to mention the fact that College Humor had taken the off ramp to Woke Town and they didn’t count on the audience stayin on the highway. Alexandra Bruce from forbiddenknowledgetv.net puts it best:

I used to occasionally run comedy clips from CollegeHumor but watching their latest material, it’s like being in a re-education camp, force-fed stuff I’ve been inculcated with since childhood. How the Hell did comedy morph into a Soviet gulag?

If that doesn’t sum up the phrase “Get Woke, Go Broke” I don’t what else to tell you. People are tired of being told how racist, sexist, xenophobic they are and unfortunately, in 2020 Hollywood & establishment media are going to double down. This will not be the last of the old guard to go broke. The real question is, how many will go broke before they will get the message?
