Pope Leo XIV

• Yesterday the world all waited with anticipation, nervousness and joy at the announcement from the Vatican.
• We had one of the biggest broadcasting days yesterday.
• The Catholic Church matters!

Michael Hichborn from the Lepanto Institute on X: Lady has asked us consistently to pray for the pope!  The fact that he chose the name “Leo” could very well be a signal grace. Leo XIII composed the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel after hearing the devil conversing with Our Lord, asking for time and power to destroy the Church. Today is the Feast of St Michael’s apparition at Gargano, where St. Michael personally defended the Sipontans and Benevetans against the invading pagan Neapolitans.

• We have to continue to pray for the Holy Father.
• We are called to do so.

• The Pope mattered, the President mattered and the Prime Minister of the UK mattered.
• I said this earlier, to go along w/ what Pope Francis was doing being a Cardinal is one thing, to do it as the Head of Holy Mother Church is another.
• To promulgate your own heresy and to compel the faithful to follow in it, that is a whole different ballgame. 

• Let me just mention something win passing.
• A bad Pope for some means ‘good for business’. 
• A good Pope for some means ‘out of business’. 
• But everyone cares about the next Pope. Even our Protestant brethren, even most of them who cannot name the Archbishop of Canterbury, care deeply about the next Pope. When Rome is solid, on firm orthodox ground, there is a sense of comfort in the religious world, which our secular friends must know is almost the entire world. The global conversation is primarily religious and not secular. When Rome grows wobbly, there is great concern, not just among our number, but all over the world. 
• It is because the Catholic Church matters. It has mattered since history was split in two and Our Lord founded His Church. As Lenny Bruce used to say, the Catholic Church is the only “the Church.” When anyone says, “the Church,” they are talking about us. Have you ever noticed how obsessed the world is with us? The world cannot get enough. And so, the visible head of the Church matters a great deal, certainly to faithful and unfaithful Catholics, and almost everyone.

Pope Leo XIV – he is 1 of only 3 Popes to be among the regular clergy. 

• He is an Augustinian. 
• He was born in Chicago.
• He has a masters in Science.
• He is a White Sox fan.
• In January 2023 he was made an Archbishop by Pope Francis.
• 8 months later he was made a Cardinal.
• Look I’m just calling balls and strikes here.
• He was less than supportive of the blessings of same-sex couples.
• Even Cardinal Dolan had to drop the hammer on that one it was so bad.
• I knew when Pope Leo XIV started saying the Confiteor in Latin as part of his introduction that maybe, just maybe we can breath.
• I thought it was maybe a sign that the Institute for Christ the King, many of them went to Rome.
• Look at the end of the day it is not for us, we are the laity.
• We are to pray for the Holy Father.
• It is Our Lords Church, He is in charge and let that be it.

• This is what is known as burn out.
• The Democrat party has flamed out.
• The smoldering remains of your filled w/ sin soul is all it has left.

• So he was not going to make it out of committee and that is thanks to Senator Thom Tillis.
• He is a left leaning Republican but South Carolina has always been that way.
• Charlotte and Raleigh have become NYC South.
• The politics of NC are screwed b/c of those two major cities.
• These urban cities that and those that live in them ruin the entire state.
• Why do all the cities ruin perfectly good states?
• This is the part of Democracy we all hate and despise.

New Pope Leo XIV

• Our community made an effort to show up to the Altar server Mass.
• Guild of St Stephen
• We made a great impression on the Diocese. 
• We made up about 20% of the people in the March for Life here locally.
• I will tell you there was no help coming from anyone. 
• No one was coming to save us.
• The clergy, the Bishop…no one but ourselves.
• So here we are. 
• If you are able to read you can figure out Latin.
• The fact it is in a different language shouldn’t be a deterrence. 
• Choosing the name of Leo is not nothing.
• They chose a man whose entire career has been one of little to no accomplishment. 
• He was Augustinians General for 2 terms and they have had the lowest numbers of all times.

• In the past 5-10 years he has been responsible for nominating some of our American Bishop.
• We will be in gradual managed decline.
• He will seem not as radical as Francis but that is because he won’t do much.
• Choosing Leo and the vestments, I think that was all baseline.
• I think our expectations are so low that we think acting Catholic is AMAZING!
• The Silver lining is this is not eh 1970’s the younger generation knows how to evangelize using today’s media and that is where the hope lies.
• Lay people cannot take their eyes off the ball.
• You won’t get any help but you might be left alone enough to continue the work.
