Winchester, VA The BBC reports that U.S. backed coalition forces have pushed further into the Syrian Islamic State caliphate city of Raqqa, and as they do, the civilians are struggling to find someplace to go. As it is, the refugee camps around Raqqa are filled with tens of thousands of people. Here are some of their experiences.

“I’m nine months pregnant. We’re hungry and thirsty. The sun has nearly killed us. There are no tents, no nothing. We’re on our way to the checkpoint, but we’re too tired.”  “We paid all our money to get here. My two boys are blind. I brought them to this camp. It’s not a suitable place for their condition, but it’s better than death. I’ve got nothing to treat or feed them with. Where else can I go?” It is estimated that about 100,000 people are trapped inside Raqqa, in addition to 2,500 ISIS militants.
