Winchester, VA – Religion News Reports via Reuters reports that on Tuesday, the state house of representatives in Delaware voted 22-16 to pass a bill which would keep abortion legal in the state, should Roe vs. Wade be overturned in the future, and the legality of abortion return to the states to be decided. The measure had already been approved by the state senate and now will move to the desk of Governor John Carney Jr. Elizabeth Nash, of the Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood’s research arm, said, “By taking this step Delaware will be the first state since the election to protect abortion rights,” Governor Carney is expected to sign the bill, however Delaware Right to Life spokesman Moira Sheridan said, “We will exert the same pressure upon Governor Carney, a Catholic, to uphold the sanctity of life for those innocent unborn children whose lives depend upon his vetoing this radical bill.”
