Winchester, VA – The Washington Post is reporting that Danica Roem, the openly transgender journalist who was running to unseat Republican Bob Marshall did indeed win his race. Roem unseated Marshall, who called himself Virginia’s “chief homophobe,” winning 54% of the vote. Throughout the campaign, Roem repeatedly stated that his transgenderism should not be a campaign issue, while at the same time making his gender a campaign issue; and Marshall refused to debate Roem, consistently referring to Roem by his correct male pronouns. Another interesting win for the Virginia House of Delegates, as reported by Fox News,  was Democrat Chris Hurst, whose girlfriend news anchor Alison Parker was murdered on-air doing a live report with her cameraman Adam Ward in 2015. Hurst unseated Republican incumbent Joseph Yost.
