Winchester, VA – The Associated Press reports that over 57,000 people have been evacuating inside of Indonesia’s tourist mecca Bali, in the area of the Mount Agung volcano, over fears that the volcano will undergo an imminent eruption. The volcano has not erupted since 1963, and that eruption took the lives of about 1,100 people. National Disaster Mitigation agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that what is believed to be magma moving towards the surface is resulting in greater frequency of volcanic tremors.  Over 560 of these such earthquakes were recorded just yesterday, but most were shallow. The alert status of Mount Agung remains at its highest level. The refugees have taken shelter around the perimeter of the island in shelters, village halls, sports centers or with loved ones. Others have left the island for neighboring Lombok.
