WHO Adds Insult To Injury As They Applauds Sweden As The “Model” Against COVID19
As COVID19 bared down on the U.S., we were beseeched with calls to “Flatten the curve” and to “Stay Home and Stay Safe”. Now, after being in this holding pattern for the better part of two months and seeing fellow Americans losing their jobs to the tune of 26 million and the GDP contracts 4.8% as coronavirus upends the U.S. economy. On top of that, the fear that has been disseminated has turned neighbor against neighbor and resulted in a dramatic and swift loss of individual freedom. For what? As right 56,000 people who have died (the majority in New York City). Now this is tragic, but when compared to the damage that has been done to “prevent the spread”, one can only say that no it has been worth it.
Now comes insult to injury, a report comes out from the World Health Organization (WHO) applauding Sweden’s model. Yes that Sweden. The country that decided that they were going to continue to live their lives. Remember when they were being scolded for not listening to the science? Yeah well The Who went on record to say:
Dr. Mike Ryan, the WHO’s top emergencies expert, said Wednesday there are “lessons to be learned” from the Scandinavian nation model, which has largely relied on citizens to self-regulate.
“I think there’s a perception out that Sweden has not put in control measures and just has allowed the disease to spread,” Ryan told reporters. “Nothing can be further from the truth.”
Ryan noted that instead of lockdowns, the country has “put in place a very strong public policy around social distancing, around caring and protecting people in long term care facilities.”
“What it has done differently is it has very much relied on its relationship with its citizenry and the ability and willingness of its citizens to implement self-distancing and self-regulate,” Ryan said. “In that sense, they have implemented public policy through that partnership with the population.”
So not only did we torch our economy and lurched ourselves headlong towards socialism, it seems that it was not necessary at all.
