Winchester, VA – Reuters reports that the FBI and over 200 officers are engaged in a manhunt for 24 year old Austin Boutain, who is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting on the campus of the University of Utah. Last night, after assaulting his wife during a domestic dispute, Mr. Boutain tried to hijack the car of Chinese international student and pre-computer science major ChenWei Guo, fatally shooting him in the process. ChenWei’s family in China have been notified and University President David Pershing said, “We are working to bring them to Utah as soon as possible and will offer them all the assistance we can.” Boutain’s wife left the Red Butte Canyon, a research area on the east side of the school where she and her husband were camping, and reported the assault to University of Utah campus police at 8:15 last night. She was treated for injuries and released. Austin Boutain may have fled into the Wasatch Mountains and is considered armed and dangerous. Classes have been suspended at the University today, as well as commuter train services near the school.
