Winchester, VA – UPI reports North Korea issued a warning today that joint U.S.-South Korea miltary exercises which are scheduled to begin on August 21 could lead to a military conflict. The state-run media KCNA stated in an editorial, “No matter how much the exercises are regularized through conversation, the danger of war can never be diminished.” The Associated Press reports that Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told South Korea that the United States Military is prepared to use the “full range” of its military capabilities in defending itself against any North Korean provocation. Despite all the brouhaha, CIA director Mike Pompeo had this to say on Face the Nation yesterday.
