Winchester, VA – Dupont, Washington was the scene of a horrific Amtrak train accident yesterday morning when train #501 approached a 30 mile per hour curve at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour, derailed, and pulled 13 cars off the tracks. The Washington Post reports that there were 77 passengers and 7 crew members on board at the time of the accident. Three people have been confirmed deceased and over a dozen people have critical or serious injuries. Fox 7 Austin reports that another Amtrak train collided with a semi truck in San Marcos, Texas at 8 p.m. local time. There were no injuries to the 150 passengers and crew on the train, however there was no information as to whether the truck was occupied and in what condition those occupants might be.
