Winchester, VA – Who isn’t familiar with Disney’s Winnie the Pooh, that tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff? Well it appears that the high ups in China know who Winnie the Pooh is, and Hong Kong Free Press reports that he’s being censored on Chinese social media networks. Searches for Winnie the Pooh turn up “this content is illegal” responses from servers. It seems comparisons have been made in the past between Chinese President Xi Xinping and the portly little bear. When Presidents Xi Xinping and Barack Obama were pictured walking together in 2013, uncanny comparisons were made using an image of Pooh Bear walking next to Tigger, down to the exact position of the arms and legs. In 2014 when President Xi Xinping was photographed shaking Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s hand, again, there was an eerily similar picture of Winnie the Pooh shaking Eeyore’s hand. The most censored photo of 2015 was a side by side comparison of the Winnie the Pooh toy car and an image of the Chinese president standing up through the roof of his car. It seems the Chinese Communists are a bit thin-skinned where portrayal of their leaders is concerned. [oh bother]
