146 CEOs Demand Gun Control, Terminator DOA

Here is what is happening today in the Brief. First, 146 CEOs sign letter to Senate urging gun control action. Presently, the CEOs of dozens of large and small businesses signed the letter . Notably, the letter includes Uber, Lyft, Twitter, Bloomberg, Yelp, Airbnb and Royal Caribbean Cruises. Now that corporate America has entered into the #GunControl debate, expect Congress to take action on it sooner rather than later.

Second, Supreme Court allows Trump to deny asylum to many Central Americans. Now that SCOTUS on Wednesday granted a request by the President’s administration to fully enforce a new rule that would curtail asylum applications by immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. The court said the rule could go into effect as litigation challenging its legality continues.

Third, Gun Policy Is Democratic Voters’ Top Issue Ahead of Houston Debate. During tonights debate that will take place after mass shootings in August, guns overtake climate change and migrant children as top debate topic. Also Terminator: Dark Fate likely to “open soft” at domestic box office. Finally, the world famous “You Gotta Be Kiddin Me” goes to Ohio and a fitting decision for a popular university.
